This study was motivated by the low learning outcomes of students in the Electrical Engineering subject at SMK Pemuda Sumedang. It aimed to determine the effect of implementing the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model on the learning outcomes of Grade XI Light Vehicle Engineering (TKR) students, particularly on the starter system topic, during the 2025/2026 academic year. The study employed a quantitative experimental approach using a True Experimental Design with a pretest-posttest control group design. The sample consisted of 60 students, including 30 students in the experimental class and 30 students in the control class. Data were collected through pretest and posttest assessments. The data analysis included the Shapiro–Wilk normality test, which showed significance values of 0.149 and 0.676, indicating that both datasets were normally distributed. The homogeneity test also confirmed homogeneous variances with a significance value of 0.290. Therefore, hypothesis testing was conducted using an independent samples t-test. The analysis yielded a calculated t-value of 9.795 with a significance value of 0.001 (p < 0.05), leading to the rejection of H₀ and acceptance of H₁. These findings indicate that the implementation of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model had a significant positive effect on students' learning outcomes in the Electrical Engineering subject.
