Abstract

This research was motivated by the importance of students' critical thinking.

Critical thinking is very important because it can help someone in making the

right decisions and developing effective problem-solving skills. One effort that

can be done to improve students' critical thinking skills on the material of

natural phenomena is by using the inquiry learning model. The formulation of

the problem in this study is whether there is an influence of the Inquiry learning

model on students' critical thinking skills in the subject of Natural Sciences on

the material of natural phenomena for grade V students of SD Negeri Pasirhuni

I Elementary School, Tanjungkerta District, Sumedang Regency in the

2024/2025 academic year. This study aims to determine the effect of the

Inquiry learning model on students' critical thinking skills in the subject of

Natural Sciences on the material of Natural Sciences for grade V students of

SD Negeri Pasirhuni I Elementary School in the 2024/2025 academic year.

The method used in this study is an experimental method, namely the Pre-

Experimental design type One Group Pretest-Posttest design. The population

used was all grade V students of SD Negeri Pasirhuni I Elementary School,

totaling 20 students consisting of 10 male students and 10 female students. The

instrument used is a written test sheet in the form of descriptive questions.

Based on the results of the analysis obtained, namely the results of the study

obtained the percentage before being given treatment of students' critical

thinking skills had an average value of 47.3 and after being given treatment

experienced an increase with an average value of 79.5 with the results of the

t-test calculation, obtained thitung (17.56) > ttable (2.093) then Hα is accepted and

H0 is rejected. So it can be concluded that there is an influence of the inquiry

learning model in improving students' critical thinking skills on the material

of natural phenomena.
